It does...I'm inclined to agree with you, Becca. It doesn't make any sense for God to be that way, and yet that ideology is so deeply entrenched in the culture we grew up in. No one questions it, which I don't understand. They just accept it as the way things are, and it doesn't seem to bother them. And one of my biggest fears is that people will hear of my religious affiliation and assume that that I'm a GLBT-hating barefoot pregnant kind of woman.Cassiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12001881189777784716noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-338399272162639533.post-86697954571139301032010-11-04T00:43:17.937-07:002010-11-04T00:43:17.937-07:00Your blog post completely resonates with me, Cassi...Your blog post completely resonates with me, Cassie. I've been thinking about it all day.

I refuse to accept doctrine that paints God as a GLBT-hating mysogynist, and because of that, I feel like quite the black sheep (*cough*heretic*cough*). It seems to me that bigoted individuals often decide that God agrees with them and then say to others, "Look, I had an inspiration that God agrees with my gay-hating ways! Fall in line or enjoy your banishment to outer darkness." Doesn't it seem kind of backward? I, for one, don't buy it. Using God as an excuse for bigotry and hate is too easy.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16353707663652786650noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-338399272162639533.post-56174906655935713192010-11-03T22:08:34.003-07:002010-11-03T22:08:34.003-07:00Ah yes, the 11th commandment. There is absolutely no sin in questioning God. In fact, the Bible supports this idea.

Luke 22:41-43
Mark 15:34

See? Jesus was a sinless man who questioned the decision making of God. I'd say you are in the clear, and probably not going to hell. :DAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
